They Saved My Life! I am a 40 year old female who nearly committed suicide at the thought of divorce after 24 years of marriage. I am still happily married and they taught me in 7 days how to live again and showed me I am a normal human being who like a car needed a tune up because I was low on fluids (brain chemicals ) Thank You Millwood for giving me my life back. Sweet staff even made sure we got to smoke cigs. And good food. And docs are great and so are nurses and aids. And very Private.
I read the reviews before I brought my son here and I tell you what the reviews are pretty darn horrifying!!!!! I was so scared to leave my little boy here with the fear of having to fight to get him back or end up with a zombie child that was too drugged up to function but you know what, this place is absolutely amazing. They do care about your loved ones and most of them seem to really love their jobs and it shows because they do it well. They always plenty of information and made sure to be clear on things, it's very scary to go through this no matter where u go. I think Millwood did a great job, maybe his stay didn't end up fixing my son's main issues but it sure didn't make it worse either. Now thanks to Millwood we are connected to the next step and i just want to thank the Millwood staff for being so helpful and kind. This place isn't that scary if you really give them a chance, and i think you should, if you need the help.
Our 14 year old son was admitted with a list of Issues, as outlined by a neuropsychologist. He had stolen a knife for the purpose of cutting his toes off and eating them. When asked, he admitted to the voice that talks to him at home and tells him to kil himself and hurt his brother. Our son was released with a ridiculous diagnosis of “DMDD”. The papers we signed did not accurate reflect his reason for admission. Further, the recommendation for follow up was a program that had previously declined us. I told the therapist that, but apparently our son was being treated by an intern who doesn’t listen. We’ve been discharged for about 5 hours. In that time, our son has urinated on the toilet seat, for the purpose of his sibling sitting in it. He spit on his siblings toothbrush. He told us twice that he doesn’t want to live. And now, he refuses to sleep. I am disgusted.
My 12 year old son was sent here for severe anger outbursts, Severe depression & suicidal thoughts. He spent 8 days in the adolescent part. There was a lot of communication with the counselor Dylan & the nurses. My family & son received the respect & dignity any family going through this time deserves. My son learned a lot in group therapy. I believe it benefited him due to him wanting to get the help & learn new ways to control himself. Only problem he had at Millwood was no privacy in the shower & restroom use( i understand why). Visiting my son 6 days of his stay was great as well as the phone calls at night.
These people helped my son. They gave him ways to help him handle his anger. His feelings of helplessness. With out this place I don't know where my son would be. I wanted to add to my review. It will be one year for my son, in January since he went to Millwood Hospital. I am happy to say my son is still on the right path. Thank you Millwood. I will say a person has got to want to get better.
Excellent staff. Answered all questions relevant to our loveones care. Followed privacy rules and gave all needed post care instructions. Made a great difference in our lives.
We were all nervous as we came together as family to get a family member help here. But from the intake to visitation, to the discharge we were met with professionalism, compassion, and understanding of what our loved one needed. I felt like we were always provided the best care and kept up to date with any changes, all modifications were thoroughly communicated before they were made, setting up trust with us from the beginning. If you or your family are ever having to make the difficult decision of utilizing a facility such as this, please consider Millwood. They not only exceeded our expectations, they excelled on every level.
What a welcomed experience to see patient care staff and leadership at this hospital operate with patient safety and care at the forefront!! My friends mother was a patient on the geriatric unit. She was very combative, and delusional when she entered the facility. Wow! what a difference that 21 days made. While visiting her at the facility, the room was clean with nice wood floors and the staff was attentive. Dr. Bennett and Dr. Mehta addressed our concerns about taking her back home to live alone and the discharge planner assisted us with locating the perfect place for her. She had been hospitalized at a larger facility and we really believe that the care she received at this smaller geriatric unit allowed more attention to be focused on our loved one. Thank you Millwood Hospital.
I have been at Millwood for over 2.5 years. This hospital has upgraded their facility and it looks great! The patient experience is placed first and the leadership at the facility places value on quality and they care for their employees! I would admit any of my loved ones to this facility even my young children. I have been to many facilities in the DFW area and by far Millwood is the best!
When I first walked in, I expected it to be strict and cold, but I was wrong. The staff was very friendly and prompt whenever I asked for something. They do have several rules, but the atmosphere of the staff is mellow and pleasant. I felt comfortable talking about my issues and I felt much better than when I came in. I would come back to Millwood if I ever needed help in the future.
While prevalence of psychiatric illnesses/substance abuses is on the rise, we need safe places i.e. psychiatric hospitals where a patient can heal. Millwood Hospital has evolved into one of The Best hospital in DFW area, with transparent administrative team, dedicated expert physicians and very caring nursing/therapy staff. It is so true that few unhappy angry patients have time and energy to go online and post negative comments. While thousands of patients who are doing much better after the hospitalization, happily go back to their lives and do not even think about posting positive review. This holds true for all psychiatric hospitals and psychiatrists. I am taking this moment to express my confidence in excellent leadership skills of Mr. Lacy, CEO Millwood hospital and his leadership team. I know that hospital staff goes above and beyond to help patients who are at vulnerable spot in their lives. Glad to be part of the team!
This place wasn't all that bad but they sure do know how too play with your mind too make sure u know what u r doing and if u r n the right state of mind i love this place and i forgive some of the staff who were rude but this place and the Dr i had which was Dr Bennett has changed my life im soo much better and i dont regret coming here
I was extremely worried and scared after my daughter was brought into the ER and the only hospital with an available bed was 45 minutes away in Arlington. The reviews were horrible and it freaked me out. It turned out everyone that I came in contact with was amazing! Very helpful and nice and they kept me very informed, and I called 10 times a day checking on my girl and never once were they put out. My daughter of course wanted to get out, but she said no one was mean to her or anything like that. They did lose her bottoms retainer but that was even fixed very quickly! I had a check with in 2 days of telling them how much it was going to be to replace it. Overall great place with some great caring people!
Ok I haven't been here personally but my little brother James Isaiah or Isaiah James he goes by both just went to this place for about a week. Now lemme tell u I was NOT happy about it especially after getting on here and seeing all these comments about how horrible This place is I actually cried and begged my mom not to take him but she did anyways.....but this place was not bad at all my parents loved this place and so did my brother. All these comments on here are just trying to make this place look bad but it's really not. Ya u might not be able to get ahold of them right when u call them but hello their busy they have a lot of patients to take care of just hold out n wait ur turn!!
Mental illness and emotional crises are difficult phenomenon to tackle in American society. Access to quality mental health care is dwindling, especially in Texas. When a crisis happens, and it is determined that a person might benefit from inpatient care, families and individuals have to make the difficult decision to surrender a few days living life at home, to get help for a condition that has become unmanageable. For every highly positive, or negative experience, there are the successful experiences that are not brought to the Internet. The adult or child came in after weeks, months, or years of depression, anxiety, or other chronic mental condition, and were restored to mental wellness through management of medication, individualized and group counseling sessions that included targeted behavioral therapy protocol. Gone are the days of the horror stories we hear about, when mental institutions kept patients for indefinite periods, and were exposed to inhumane treatment. Here is a group of practitioners and staff, dedicated to not just changing the perception of mental health care, but actually putting quality care into practice. The staff continues to strive for improvement in all aspects, to insure that people needing to stabilize and find balance in their mental health, receive the necessary tools for restoration. Mental illness continues to be highly stigmatized in our country, and the industry of psychiatric care indeed has much work to do to overcome the negative perceptions of the past and present. Millwood continues to build a caring, responsive, and forward-thinking staff. 4 stars for effort and with room to keep improving. Negative reviews provide the awareness of the overlooked aspects of care that need to be addressed; however, there are countless positive experiences of patients having their crisis averted, their family interaction improved, and the person's well-being restored so that they can get back to pursuing the fullness of their lives. Please do not hesitate if you and your loved ones find yourselves in a moment of crisis.
